الحويني : بالنسبة يا شيخنا لتاريخ المولد ؟ يعني سنة كم ؟

Al-Ḥuwaynī(1): Our Shaykh, regarding your date of birth, what year was it?

الألباني: طبعًا لا يوجد لدينا ما نعتمد عليه في هذا التأريخ سوى ما يسمَّى بتذكرة النفوس أو الهوية أو الجواز ، فالمسجَّل فيها 1914 بالتأريخ النصارى ، هو هذا . 

Al-Albānī: Of course, we have nothing to rely upon in dating this except what is called the tathkirat an-nufūs, or the identity card, or the passport. What is recorded in them is 1914 according to the Christian calendar. So that is what it is.

(1): Al-Ḥuwaynī is a very sad case. He couldn't survive the corrupt environment in Egypt, which was (and still is) full of Ikhwān and Takfeeris. He deviated.

The Shop

Most people passed by…without noticing it. It stood there like it had always been. A narrow shop along a tired street. Windows dim. Glass veiled with years of dust. Shadows layered on shadows inside. If you pressed your face close enough, you could see shapes of shelves, tools, machines…all still there. Not broken or destroyed or damaged, just abandoned. The door had not been opened in decades. Cobwebs stretched from handle to frame, like thin ropes warning visitors away. Rust clung to metal. The air inside sat heavy, unmoved, thick with neglect. People walked past it every day.
