الحويني : طيب ؛ هل في " دمشق " يا شيخنا مسقط رأسك ولَّا في " ألبانيا " ؟

Al-Ḥuwaynī: All right, our Shaykh. Was your birthplace Damascus, or Albania?


الألباني : لأ ، ولادتي كانت في " أشقودرة " التي كانت يومئذٍ عاصمة " ألبانيا " ، وفي زمن الثورجي هذا " أحمد زوغو " نقل العاصمة إلى " تيرانا " ، فولادتي إذًا كانت في " أشقودرة " من " ألبانيا " .

Al-Albānī: Nope. My birth was in Shkodër, which was the capital of Albania at that time. Then, during the era of that revolutionary, Aḥmad Zog, he moved the capital to Tirana. So my birth, then, was in Shkodër, Albania.

الحويني : نعم . 

Al-Ḥuwaynī: Yes.

The Shop

Most people passed by…without noticing it. It stood there like it had always been. A narrow shop along a tired street. Windows dim. Glass veiled with years of dust. Shadows layered on shadows inside. If you pressed your face close enough, you could see shapes of shelves, tools, machines…all still there. Not broken or destroyed or damaged, just abandoned. The door had not been opened in decades. Cobwebs stretched from handle to frame, like thin ropes warning visitors away. Rust clung to metal. The air inside sat heavy, unmoved, thick with neglect. People walked past it every day.
