علاجٌ نبويٌّ! عليكمْ بالتَّلبِينة!

A Prophetic remedy! Have talbīnah!

بسمِ اللهِ الرَّحمَٰنِ الرَّحِيم

In the Name of Allāh, the All-Merciful, the Merciful.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا:

On the authority of ʿĀʾishah (may Allāh be pleased with her):

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَأْمُرُ بِـ (التَّلْبِينِ) لِلْمَرِيضِ، وَلِلْمَحْزُونِ عَلَى الهَالِكِ!

She used to instruct that talbīnah be given to the sick person and to one grieving over a deceased one.

وَكَانَتْ تَقُولُ:

And she would say:

إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:

I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) say:

((إِنَّ التَّلْبِينَةَ تُجِمُّ فُؤَادَ المَرِيضِ، وَتَذْهَبُ بِبَعْضِ الحُزْنِ)).

"Indeed, talbīnah tujimmu the heart of the sick person and alleviates some of the grief".

معنى تجمُّ:

The meaning of "tujimmu":

أَي: تُريحُهُ،

That is, it gives him relief,

وقيلَ: تَجْمَعُهُ وتُكَمِّلُ صَلاحَه ونَشاطَه!

and it has also been said: it restores him, completing his well-being and vitality.

وللإمامِ (ابنِ القيّم) -رحمهُ اللهُ- فصلٌ خاصٌّ عن تغذيةِ المريض وعلاجهِ بالهديِ النبويِّ: (التلبينةِ) وماهيتها، وفوائدها، وذلك في كتابهِ "زاد المعاد"، فليُرجعْ إليهِ؛ للفائدةِ.

Imām Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy upon him) devoted a special section in his book Zād al-Maʿād to nourishing and treating the sick through the Prophetic guidance: (talbīnah), discussing its nature and benefits. It may be consulted for further benefit.

والحمدُ للهِ ربِّ العالمين.

And all praise is due to Allāh, Lord of all the worlds.

Why Al-Albānī Spoke to People Like They Were His Peers

One of the beautiful things you notice when listening to al-Albānī's recorded discussions is that he did not speak to people as if they were furniture in the room. He spoke to them. A beginner, a student, a confused objector, a man repeating what he heard somewhere, even someone nervous and clearly out of his depth. He still gave him his mind. You can feel it in the tapes.
